You have found the most outstanding apartment. Natural light is flooding in through the windows, the kitchen cabinets are large, and you can't wait to take a bubble bath in the garden tub. As you start putting your items into the closet, it becomes obvious you may have too many clothes. And shoes. Maybe your friend won the better closet, your significant other actually has more clothes to choose from, or the space is more cramped than you recalled. Here are a few ideas to make the most out of your situation.

Hangers over Folded Piles!

Hangers are often seen as a necessary evil. Acquiring hangers is an errand and not considered enjoyable. However, the types of hangers you decide to use in your closet can increase or remove space. Using velvet hangers will increse so much room in your closet and they are not super expensive. Also, keep your hangers the same color. It's all too easy to become distracted by clashing hangers.

Organize with a Purpose! 

After you've made the switch to your hanger of choice, organize your shirts by color and sleeve length. You know the drill - digging through shirts to find your go-to striped skirt. Organizing your closet from summer to winter is easy, but enjoy the process! You're the one who has to see it every morning.

Folding SOME of your Clothes is Still Okay! 

Not every item must be on a hanger. Your shirts, sweaters and jeans can all be folded into drawers or shelves. Folding items will keep the closet volume down. The divergence between hanging and folded garments will ensure you see your closet more clearly.

If there is Space, Use it!

Take advantage of extra storage for the bottom half of the closet. Store the clothes you folded or accessories in the cubbies and organize shoes underneath. If there is still room, the top of the organizer take advantage of. There is no unusable space in a closet - only unused potential.

If there is space in your bedroom, a rolling rack is the best addition to any walk-in closet. Be proactive and plan your outfits ahead of time, use your go-to pieces as adornment, or simply use the rolling rack as extra storage space.
